Fiji Powerlifting achieved remarkable success at the Oceania Regional Powerlifting Championship held in Nauru, where the team proudly secured a total of 19 medals. Their impressive haul included two gold medals, seven silver medals, and ten bronze medals across various weight categories, such as under 74kg, under 83kg, under 93kg, under 105kg, and under 120kg.
Among the standout performers were Vinesh Chand, Faga Varea, Muzzammi Ali, Viliame Lagonilakeba, Kurt Wise, and the youngest competitor, Vivaan Patel, showcasing the team’s depth and talent.
In addition to their medal success, Fiji has also been awarded the opportunity to host the 2026 Oceania Powerlifting Championship, a decision that reflects the growing prominence and capability of the country in the sport.
This achievement not only highlights the athletes’ hard work and dedication but also paves the way for future events in Fiji, fostering local talent and enthusiasm for powerlifting. The upcoming championship will likely inspire a new generation of lifters and further promote sports in the region.
