Fiji Ports Corporation Limited has issued a serious public alert in response to recent incidents of unauthorized access to the LPG mooring areas of Fiji Gas at its seaside facilities in Suva and Lautoka. These mooring zones are classified as high-security areas due to the handling of hazardous materials and the presence of critical maritime infrastructure.

The Corporation emphasizes that any unauthorized entry into these zones represents a severe security breach and poses substantial safety risks for individuals as well as port operations. Such actions not only jeopardize lives but also threaten the integrity of essential infrastructure that is crucial for both present and future port activities.

“The public is reminded that these areas are strictly off-limits,” the Corporation stated, highlighting that anyone found trespassing or attempting unauthorized access will be reported to the Fiji Police Force for investigation and potential legal consequences.

Fiji Ports encourages the public to adhere to all security protocols, including respecting fencing, warning signage, and boundaries surrounding the port facilities. The Corporation is urging vigilance among community members to report any suspicious activities near these port areas to the appropriate authorities.

Public cooperation is vital for maintaining safety, security, and operational integrity, particularly in high-risk zones dealing with fuel and hazardous materials. This collective vigilance contributes to the overall safety of Fiji’s ports and reinforces the importance of adhering to established safety measures.
