In response to an increase in livestock thefts, the Fiji Police Force is ramping up vigilance, particularly during challenging weather conditions. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACPO) Livai Driu acknowledged that recent adverse weather has made communities more vulnerable to opportunistic criminals seeking to capitalize on the situation.

During this festive season, police officers are actively engaged in Community Policing Visitation initiatives. These efforts include advising community members to take precautions to protect their livestock amid the heightened risk.

ACP Driu urges residents to secure their livestock before the weather deteriorates further or night falls. He emphasizes the importance of community vigilance and encourages everyone to watch out for one another.

This proactive approach from the police, alongside community cooperation, can create a safer environment and deter potential thefts, highlighting the importance of solidarity in facing such challenges.
