The Fiji Police Force is urging the public to refrain from pointing laser lights at aircraft, as this poses a significant risk to the safety of passengers and crew members. Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations, Livai Driu, issued this warning following a meeting with civil aviation authorities where concerns about the inappropriate use of laser pointers near airports were discussed. ACP Driu emphasized that targeting aircraft with laser lights jeopardizes the safety of everyone on board. He has appealed to anyone witnessing such hazardous behavior to report it to their nearest police station by dialing 917 or to contact Crime Stoppers at 919.
