Fiji Police have apprehended two juveniles involved in separate cases of sacrilege, with ongoing investigations targeting individuals who may have received stolen goods.
In Navua, a 17-year-old has been charged with sacrilege, while a 41-year-old man was charged under Section 306 of the Crimes Act 2009 for receiving stolen goods. Both individuals have appeared in court, with their cases set to be reviewed later this month.
In a different incident, a 15-year-old student from Newtown was detained for allegedly stealing various items, including a rug and gas burners. These items were successfully recovered by the Southern Division taskforce.
As the festive season approaches, police have issued a warning regarding an increase in opportunistic crimes. They are urging the public to safeguard easily resold items such as mobile phones, electronics, shoes, jewelry, and bags. Authorities emphasize the importance of prioritizing safety and security both at home and in public spaces, encouraging community vigilance to deter potential thefts.
In light of these incidents, it is crucial for residents to remain proactive about their personal security, ensuring that their valuables are secured during this busy time of the year.
