Fiji Police Warn of Drug Crackdown This Holiday Season

The Fiji Police Force is intensifying its drug operations in preparation for a surge in movement due to the upcoming school holidays, festivals, meetings, and conferences. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, has issued a stern warning to individuals engaged in the illegal drug trade, emphasizing that they will face consequences.

ACP Driu highlighted that police are conducting raids on farms and have recently made significant discoveries in Kadavu, leading to multiple arrests for illegal drug possession. He urged the public to provide information on drug-related activities either by calling 917 or by contacting Crime Stoppers at 919 to assist in minimizing the impact of illicit drugs.

Additionally, the K9 units are being enhanced through collaboration with the New Zealand Police under the Fiji Police Partnership Programme, which is also improving the capabilities of the Fiji Police’s Dog Patrol in conjunction with the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service.
