Fiji Police Warn: Laser Pointers Endanger Lives in the Skies

The Fiji Police Force is urging the public to refrain from directing laser lights at airplanes, highlighting the severe risk it poses to the safety of passengers and crew members.

Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations, Livai Driu, issued this warning after a meeting with civil aviation authorities, during which serious concerns were raised.

ACP Driu emphasized that the intentional misuse of laser pointers in the vicinity of airports is a significant issue. He stated that such actions jeopardize the safety of those aboard the aircraft and encouraged anyone witnessing this risky behavior to report it by calling their nearest police station at 917 or Crime Stoppers at 919.
