As unfavorable weather conditions approach this Christmas season, the Fiji Police Force is urging the public to remain vigilant. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACPO) Livai Driu highlighted that water levels have begun to rise in various areas of the country. He emphasizes the importance of keeping children safe and advises parents to prevent them from playing in flooded waters.
“The Weather Office has issued advisories for the coming days, and we have already received reports of flooding in some regions. We urge all parents to ensure their children stay away from these dangerous areas,” ACP Driu stated. He noted that there have been instances in the past where parents have faced repercussions for not supervising their children.
In light of the Christmas festivities, police will be actively monitoring the situation and checking flooded zones to prevent any accidents. ACP Driu encouraged the community to look out for one another during this holiday period, underscoring the collective responsibility to ensure safety.
As the nation prepares for Christmas, it is particularly important to remain aware of changing weather conditions and to prioritize the safety of others. By working together, the community can enjoy a safer and more festive holiday season, despite the challenges posed by the weather.
Overall, a spirit of cooperation and vigilance can help ensure that everyone experiences a joyful and safe Christmas.
