The Fiji Police Force is urgently advising residents in flood-prone areas of the Western Division to promptly seek higher ground due to continuous rainfall that has already resulted in flooding in certain locations. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACPO) Livai Driu expressed the importance of taking safety precautions by relocating to higher ground or evacuation centers.

ACPO Driu indicated that police teams are ready and available at local police stations to assist individuals in making these necessary moves. He emphasized the urgency, stating that it is crucial for people to act before nightfall, as relocating after dark poses significant risks both to residents and the officers assisting them.

The police are dedicated to protecting life and property, and they remain on standby to provide necessary assistance. For those in need of help moving to safer locations, the Western Division Command and Coordination Center can be reached at 9905457.

In light of the current challenges, it is heartening to see the proactive measures being taken by the police force and the community’s resilience in facing natural disasters. It demonstrates the importance of vigilance and preparedness during such adverse weather conditions.
