The Fiji Police Force is calling on residents in flood-prone regions of the Western Division to relocate to higher ground as continuous rainfall has led to flooding in several areas.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACPO) Livai Driu emphasized the importance of taking immediate action. “As a precautionary measure, we are urging everyone to move to higher ground now or to an Evacuation Centre,” he stated.

To ensure safety, police teams are prepared and ready to assist individuals in relocating to safer areas. ACPO Driu highlighted the risks associated with nighttime movement, urging people to evacuate before dark for their safety and the safety of the officers involved.

The Police Force’s primary mission is the Protection of Life and Property, and they will remain on standby to offer assistance during this challenging time. For those in need of help reaching safer ground, the Western Division Command and Coordination Center can be contacted at 9905457.

As the community bands together during this weather crisis, it’s encouraging to see proactive measures being taken to safeguard lives. Residents are reminded that their safety is paramount, and they can rely on the support of local authorities during this difficult period.
