The Fiji Police Force is currently investigating a serious accident that took place on Friday around midday. The incident involved a collision between a container trailer and a minibus that was transporting six passengers.

The crash occurred near Lokuya Hill, past the Verata Junction, on Kings Road, as it headed towards Korovou Town in Tailevu North. Authorities have confirmed that both drivers, along with all six passengers, have been transported to Korovou Hospital for medical treatment.

In light of this incident, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, who oversees traffic operations, is calling on all drivers of public service vehicles (PSVs) to exercise increased caution while on the road. “This is the second incident this week involving PSVs, and innocent passengers are becoming victims on our roads,” SSP Divuana stated.

As investigations progress, there is hope that such accidents can be prevented in the future through heightened awareness and improved safety protocols among vehicle operators.

The focus on road safety is crucial in ensuring the well-being of all road users, and the ongoing efforts by the Fiji Police Force to monitor and enforce traffic regulations aim to create safer travel conditions for everyone.
