The Fiji Police Force is currently investigating an accident that occurred on Friday involving a collision between a container trailer and a minibus transporting six passengers. The incident took place near Lokuya Hill, just beyond the Verata Junction on Kings Road, as the vehicles were making their way toward Korovou Town in Tailevu North.

Following the accident, both drivers and all six passengers were promptly taken to Korovou Hospital for medical attention. The authorities are taking this incident seriously, particularly given that it marks the second occurrence this week involving public service vehicles (PSVs). Senior Superintendent of Police Mitieli Divuana has expressed concern over the safety of passengers and is urging drivers of PSVs to exercise greater caution while on the road, highlighting that innocent lives are at stake.

These unfortunate events underscore a growing need for heightened vigilance among public transport operators, conflicting with the commitment to passenger safety.

As investigations proceed, it is a hopeful reminder of the importance of road safety. By encouraging awareness and vigilance, both drivers and passengers can contribute to a safer transportation environment for everyone.

In summary, the Fiji Police are addressing a recent minibus accident involving multiple injuries, prompting a call for improved vigilance from public service vehicle drivers.
