The Fiji Police Force is encouraging citizens to address their disputes peacefully and to avoid actions that may endanger their safety and well-being. This message follows an incident that occurred early in the morning along the Suva foreshore near the Fiji Police Academy, where an officer intervened in a domestic dispute.
According to police reports, the duty officer at the academy heard a couple arguing around 3 am and went to investigate. Upon arrival, he found that a woman, believed to be intoxicated, was attempting to harm herself. The officer intervened to help her partner bring her safely back to shore and assisted the couple in resolving their differences.
Authorities are also reminding Fijians that alcohol is not a solution to problems, as excessive drinking can worsen unresolved issues, leading to serious harm or even fatal consequences.
