The Fiji Police Force is encouraging citizens to address their problems peacefully rather than resorting to drastic actions that could jeopardize their safety and wellbeing. This message follows an incident early in the morning near the Fiji Police Academy, where an officer intervened in a domestic dispute.
According to police reports, the on-duty officer at the academy heard a couple arguing around 3 am and went to investigate. Upon arrival, he found that a woman, who appeared to be intoxicated, was attempting to harm herself. The officer intervened to help her partner bring her safely back to shore and assisted the couple in resolving their differences.
The police are also reminding the public that alcohol should not be seen as a solution to problems, as excessive drinking can worsen unresolved issues, sometimes leading to severe harm or even death.
