The Fiji Police Force is encouraging residents to address their problems peacefully, emphasizing the importance of avoiding harmful measures that threaten their safety and well-being. This advice follows a recent incident near the Fiji Police Academy along the Suva foreshore, where an officer responded to a domestic dispute.
Around 3 am, the duty officer at the Academy overheard a couple arguing and went to investigate. Upon arrival, he found that the woman, reportedly intoxicated, was in distress and attempting to harm herself. The officer intervened to help her partner bring her safely back to shore and assisted the couple in resolving their conflict.
Police are reminding Fijians that alcohol is not a solution to their problems, as excessive drinking can worsen unresolved issues and lead to severe harm or even fatalities.
