The Fiji Police Force is encouraging citizens to address conflicts peacefully rather than turning to extreme actions that could jeopardize their safety and well-being. This message follows an incident that occurred early in the morning along the Suva foreshore close to the Fiji Police Academy, where an officer became involved in a domestic dispute.
According to police reports, a duty officer at the academy heard a couple in a heated argument around 3 a.m. and responded to the situation. Upon arrival, the officer discovered that the woman, who appeared to be intoxicated, was attempting to harm herself. The officer intervened to help her partner bring her safely back to shore and assisted the couple in finding a resolution to their issues.
The police also remind the public that alcohol is not a solution for problems, as excessive drinking can worsen unresolved conflicts, potentially leading to serious harm or even death.
