The Fiji Police Force is encouraging citizens to resolve their conflicts peacefully instead of turning to extreme actions that may jeopardize their safety and well-being. This message follows a recent incident at the Suva foreshore near the Fiji Police Academy, where an officer intervened in a domestic dispute during the early hours of the morning.
According to reports, the duty officer at the academy overheard a couple arguing around 3 a.m. and went to investigate. Upon arrival, he discovered that the woman, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, was attempting to harm herself. The officer quickly assisted her partner in bringing her back to safety on shore and helped the couple work through their difficulties.
The police also urged the public to remember that alcohol should not be viewed as a solution to problems, as overindulgence can worsen unresolved issues, potentially leading to severe harm or even fatalities.
