The Fiji Police Force is advising vehicle owners to refrain from leaving their cars unattended with the keys in the ignition. This warning comes from Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Livai Driu, following two incidents in which suspects stole vehicles that had their keys left inside.

ACP Driu emphasized that opportunistic thieves will exploit such situations, urging vehicle owners to take greater precautions and secure their vehicles at all times. He noted that these criminals show no respect for anyone involved, including the families of victims who may also be present in the vehicles.

In response to such thefts, ACP Driu stated that once a report is filed, checkpoints will be established to prevent the stolen vehicle from being used in other criminal activities.
