The Fiji Police Force has launched an investigation into a serious collision that occurred between a container trailer and a minibus carrying six passengers on Friday around midday. The accident took place near Lokuya Hill, past the Verata Junction, on Kings Road as the vehicles were heading towards Korovou Town in Tailevu North.
Authorities confirmed that both drivers, along with all six passengers, were promptly transported to Korovou Hospital for medical attention. As the investigation unfolds, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, who is in charge of Traffic, is urging all public service vehicle drivers (PSVs) to exercise heightened caution while on the road.
“This marks the second incident this week involving PSVs, and we cannot afford to have innocent passengers suffer as a result,” SSP Divuana stated, emphasizing the importance of road safety.
This incident serves as a reminder of the shared responsibility among all drivers to ensure the safety of themselves and others on the road. It is hopeful that this investigation will lead to improved safety measures and awareness, ultimately reducing such unfortunate events in the future.
By fostering a culture of vigilance and responsibility, we can work towards safer roadways for everyone.
