The Fiji Police Force is encouraging citizens to address their problems peacefully and avoid extreme actions that could jeopardize their safety and well-being. This message follows an incident that occurred early in the morning along the Suva foreshore, close to the Fiji Police Academy, where a police officer intervened in a domestic dispute.
According to police reports, the on-duty officer at the Fiji Police Academy overheard a couple arguing around 3 am and responded to the situation. Upon arrival, the officer found that a woman, who appeared to be intoxicated, was attempting to harm herself. He intervened to help her partner bring her back to shore safely and assisted the couple in resolving their conflicts.
The police also want to remind the public that alcohol is not a solution to problems, as excessive drinking can worsen unresolved issues, leading to serious harm or even fatalities.
