The Fiji Police Force convened today at the Suva Civic Center for a dedication service to prepare for the 2024 Ratu Sukuna Tournament and the upcoming festive season operations. Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew emphasized the importance of this gathering, describing it as a moment for the police family to unite and seek divine guidance ahead of these significant events.

This service served as a crucial synchronizing effort, likened to preparation before a crucial operation, to ensure that every member of the force is on the same path toward success. The Acting Commissioner highlighted the dual focus on not only excelling in the Ratu Sukuna tournament but also maintaining public safety during the festive period.

He extended his best wishes to all participating teams and expressed gratitude to their families for their support and sacrifices. In addition, the Fiji Police Force acknowledged the assistance of the Australia Federal Police in supporting the #88blues campaign with logistical resources.

During the service, AFP’s Senior Pacific Liaison Officer Superintendent Adrian Morton and Detective Inspector Paul Everingham participated alongside Fiji Police members as they received and blessed the sporting kits, officiated by Chaplain Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Joeli Mawi.

The 2024 Ratu Sukuna tournament kicks off on Tuesday with boxing matches, while the highly anticipated rugby showdown between the Shop & Save Police Blues and the Republic of Fiji Military Forces is scheduled for Saturday, November 9th, at the HFC Stadium in Suva.

This dedication service not only highlights the importance of teamwork and preparation in law enforcement but also reflects a commitment to community engagement and public safety during a vibrant time of year. The collaborative spirit demonstrated by the Fiji Police Force and Australia Federal Police exemplifies international camaraderie and support in fostering a safer environment for all during the festive season.

Overall, this event sets the stage for both an entertaining sporting event and an opportunity for the Fiji Police Force to showcase their readiness and dedication to serving the community.
