The Fiji Police Force gathered at the Suva Civic Center today for a dedication service in preparation for the upcoming 2024 Ratu Sukuna Tournament and the festive season operations. Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew emphasized the importance of unity within the force, stating that this service provided an opportunity for officers to seek divine guidance as they approach these significant events.
Chew likened the gathering to a strategy meeting before a major operation, underscoring the need for alignment and a shared goal among all members. While the focus is on the success of the Ratu Sukuna campaign, he also highlighted the imperative to ensure a safe and enjoyable festive season for the community.
The Acting Commissioner expressed gratitude towards the families of officers for their support and sacrifices, encouraging teamwork and resilience. Additionally, the Fiji Police Force thanked the Australian Federal Police for their logistical assistance in supporting the #88blues campaign, a collaboration that strengthens ties between the two organizations.
During the service, which was attended by AFP Senior Pacific Liaison Officer Superintendent Adrian Morton and Detective Inspector Paul Everingham, the police teams received their sporting kits, which were blessed by the Force Chaplain, Assistant Superintendent of Police Joeli Mawi.
The tournament kicks off on Tuesday with boxing competitions, culminating in the main rugby match between the Shop & Save Police Blues and the Republic of Fiji Military Forces on Saturday, November 9, at the HFC Stadium in Suva.
As the Fiji Police prepare for this festive season and competitive events, their unified approach promises not only to honor their traditions but also to foster community spirit and security during this busy time.
This story showcases the importance of teamwork and preparation in law enforcement, which, when combined with community support, can enhance public safety and engagement in events that strengthen communal ties.
