The Fiji Police Force came together at the Suva Civic Center today for a dedication service in preparation for the upcoming 2024 Ratu Sukuna Tournament and the festive season operations. Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew, highlighted that this gathering was a moment for the police community to unite and seek divine assistance as they approach these significant events.
He emphasized the importance of teamwork and synchronization, drawing a parallel to strategizing before a crucial mission. The primary goal is to ensure successful participation in the Ratu Sukuna campaign while maintaining safety during the festive season.
Commissioner Chew extended his best wishes to all teams and expressed gratitude to their families for their sacrifices. The Fiji Police Force also acknowledged the ongoing support from the Australian Federal Police in the #88blues campaign, particularly in providing logistical assistance.
During the service, AFP representatives, including Senior Pacific Liaison Officer Superintendent Adrian Morton and Detective Inspector Paul Everingham, were present to support the local forces. The sporting kits for all teams received a blessing from the Force Chaplain, Assistant Superintendent of Police Joeli Mawi.
The tournament kicks off on Tuesday with boxing events, leading up to the highly anticipated rugby match between the Shop & Save Police Blues and the Republic of Fiji Military Forces set for Saturday, November 9th, at HFC Stadium in Suva.
This event not only strengthens the bond within the Fiji Police Force but also reinforces their commitment to safety and community spirit during the festive season.
As the tournament approaches, there’s a palpable sense of excitement and hope, signaling a promising event ahead for all participants and supporters alike.
