The Fiji Police Force convened today at the Suva Civic Center for a dedication service in preparation for the upcoming 2024 Ratu Sukuna Tournament and the festive season operations. Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew emphasized the significance of this gathering, describing it as an opportunity for the policing family to unite and seek divine guidance for the significant events ahead.

“This is a time for us to synchronize as a team before the challenges we face, similar to preparations made before a major operation,” Chew stated, stressing the importance of being on the same wavelength to ensure success in their mission. He acknowledged that while the focus is on winning the Ratu Sukuna campaign, it is equally crucial to conduct operations that will guarantee a safe and enjoyable festive season for the community.

The Acting Commissioner expressed his best wishes to all participating teams and thanked their families for their continued support and sacrifices. The Fiji Police Force also expressed gratitude to the Australian Federal Police for their assistance with logistical support for the #88blues campaign.

Superintendent Adrian Morton and Detective Inspector Paul Everingham from the Australian Federal Police joined the Fiji Police in the dedication service, during which the sporting kits for all teams were blessed by Force Chaplain Assistant Superintendent of Police Joeli Mawi. The tournament will kick off on Tuesday with boxing events, culminating in the major rugby showdown between the Shop & Save Police Blues and the Republic of Fiji Military Forces on Saturday, November 9, at the HFC Stadium in Suva.

This gathering not only underscores the dedication of the Fiji Police Force to both sporting excellence and community safety but also highlights the collaborative spirit among law enforcement agencies and their commitment to serving the public.

The 2024 Ratu Sukuna Tournament promises to be an exciting showcase of talent and camaraderie, fostering unity and sportsmanship while reinforcing the spirit of safety during the festive season.
