Multiple police officers are currently under investigation in connection to the alleged kidnapping and assault of a businessman in Fiji. Allegations suggest that the amount was paid in cash and through the mobile payment service MPaisa.
Fiji’s Commissioner of Police, Rusiate Tudravu, has instructed the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to look into the claims of assault and misconduct involving the officers for the sake of public trust. Following a report filed on July 28, the Commissioner has ordered the officers involved to be placed on interdiction without pay until the investigation concludes.
