The Fiji Police Boxing Team emerged as champions at the Vodafone Sukuna Bowl Boxing Challenge, held at the LICI Courts in Laucala Bay. Their remarkable performance led them to victory in five out of nine final categories.
Petero Vunivalu showcased his talent by securing gold in both the 60-63kg and 63.5-67kg divisions, defeating Emosi Vucago and Meli Cabebula, respectively, with a unanimous points decision. Josaia Veiqaravi also delivered a stellar performance in the 67-71kg category, overpowering Army’s Isikeli Rogoyawa, while Vilimoni Naivaluwaqa clinched a knockout victory over Army’s Meli Naumi in the same weight class. Victor Rova further bolstered the Police team’s success by winning against fellow officer Nemani Tuinalolo on points.
On the Army side, Keleto Tawake earned gold in the 57-60kg category, defeating Rusiate Qalo, while Aminiasi Saratibau triumphed in the 75-80kg division against Naibuka Kumuiwalu. The all-Army matchup in the 80-86kg class saw Samuela Naqiri emerge victorious over Vilimoni Drotini. The Army concluded the event by winning the final bout, as Sakiusa Narara secured victory against Solomoni Tikoisuva of the Police team.
