The Fiji Police Boxing Team emerged as the overall champions of the Vodafone Sukuna Bowl Boxing Challenge held at the LICI Courts in Laucala Bay. Demonstrating exceptional skill and determination, the Police team secured victories in five out of the nine final categories.
Among the standout performances, Petero Vunivalu captured the gold medal in the 60-63kg division, defeating Emosi Vucago. Vunivalu further distinguished himself by winning another gold in the 63.5-67kg category, triumphing over Meli Cabebula from the Army by a unanimous points decision.
The Police continued their dominance in the 67-71kg division, where Josaia Veiqaravi showcased his strength against Isikeli Rogoyawa from the Army, while Vilimoni Naivaluwaqa achieved a notable victory by knocking out Meli Naumi from the Army in the second match of that weight class. Victor Rova rounded out the Police success by clinching their fifth gold medal with a points decision win against fellow Police officer Nemani Tuinalolo.
On the Army side, Keleto Tawake earned gold in the 57-60kg category, defeating Rusiate Qalo, while Aminiasi Saratibau secured victory in the 75-80kg weight class against Naibuka Kumuiwalu. An all-Army match in the 80-86kg category saw Samuela Naqiri take the gold medal over Vilimoni Drotini, and the Army concluded the event on a strong note with Sakiusa Narara defeating Solomoni Tikoisuva from the Police.
