The Fiji Police Force has announced its ongoing commitment to combatting the drug trade, having arrested 16 individuals for possession of illegal drugs in a single day.

In the Central Division, seven suspects were apprehended, including two men who disembarked from a shipping vessel at Mua-i-Walu. The Southern Division saw six arrests, while one was made in the Eastern Division and two in the Northern Division.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACPO) Livai Driu emphasized that the police are making daily arrests and actively prosecuting offenders involved in drug-related activities. He noted that the police will persist in their efforts to disrupt the drug trade, particularly with an anticipated influx of supplies during the festive season.
