The Fiji Police Force has clarified that no fights or brawls took place at the Suva Bus stand, contrary to claims circulating on social media. In a statement released, police confirmed that an operations team from Totogo was deployed to the area as a precautionary measure due to an influx of students returning from an athletics meet. They worked alongside officials from the Suva City Council to ensure the bus stand was clear and orderly.

The police noted that the large number of students moving hurriedly in the area was merely due to the logistical challenges of catching their respective buses, not as a result of any altercation. They ensured that the bus stand was cleared before nightfall.

This incident highlights the role of law enforcement in managing public safety, particularly after school events, and their commitment to dispelling misinformation shared on social media. Previous reports of disturbances in the area have prompted police to maintain a strong presence during peak times, especially when students are gathered, to mitigate any potential conflicts.

The proactive measures taken by the Fiji Police emphasize the importance of communication and community cooperation in fostering a safe environment for young people. By effectively addressing concerns and clarifying misunderstandings, there is hope for improved safety and community cohesion moving forward.
