The Fiji Police Force rugby team is determined to defend the Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl title as competition approaches. Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew, along with members of the command group, visited the team at their training camp in Nadi earlier this week to boost morale.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mesake Waqa expressed that players and officials are committed to competing fiercely for their organization, families, and fans. The Shop N Save Police Blues are preparing for the match against the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF), scheduled for Saturday, November 9, at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
Waqa noted that the Acting Commissioner emphasized the importance of humility and recognized that all teams train hard to win. He acknowledged that while the Police team is eager to retain the title, the RFMF will also strive for victory. As the Fiji Police Force celebrates its 150th anniversary, the team aims to showcase excellence representing their legacy.
Waqa is aware of the challenges ahead, appreciating that the RFMF is equally motivated to win the prestigious title. He encouraged all Police supporters to come out and cheer for their teams across various sports, while also wishing the RFMF good luck in hosting this year’s tournament.
The annual competition will kick off next Tuesday with boxing matches.
This annual event not only stimulates sportsmanship between the teams but serves as an opportunity to bring the community together in celebration of resilience and unity. As the two teams prepare for an intense showdown, it’s an occasion to honor the spirit of competition and camaraderie.
