The Fiji Police Force rugby team is gearing up to fiercely defend the Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl this year. This determination was emphasized during a visit by the Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew, and senior command members to their camp in Nadi earlier this week.

In a statement shared on their Facebook page, Police Rugby President and Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mesake Waqa expressed that the players and officials are fully committed to defending their title for their organization, families, and supporters. The Shop N Save Police Blues rugby team is filled with enthusiasm as they prepare for their much-anticipated match on Saturday, November 9, at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, where they will face the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF).

Waqa relayed that the Acting Commissioner urged the team to maintain humility, acknowledging that every competitor trains diligently with the goal of victory. He stressed that while the Fiji Police to defend their title, the RFMF will similarly be striving hard for a win.

As the Fiji Police Force celebrates its 150th Anniversary, the focus is on honing a top-tier rugby team that represents not only current officers but also those of the past and their families. “We recognize the tough challenge that lies ahead, knowing that the RFMF will also be wholly committed to victory. We sincerely wish them well and anticipate the competitive spirit on November 9,” Waqa stated.

Waqa also encouraged fans to come out and support the police team across various sports, extending well wishes to the RFMF as the tournament hosts.

The annual tournament will kick off next Tuesday with the boxing competition, setting the stage for an exciting series of events.

This year’s competition not only showcases athletic prowess but also embodies the spirit of camaraderie and community among the various forces involved. It serves as a reminder of the dedication and teamwork required in both sports and the broader community, fostering a sense of unity and support.
