Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu has called on the public to refrain from jumping to conclusions about police officers while an investigation is underway regarding a message circulating in connection with the Fiji Police Force. During a joint briefing with the Australian Federal Police, he expressed his concerns about speculation that lacks a factual basis.
“I would like to state that I don’t support police officers being judged by public opinion without substantive evidence. What was sent by my men at this point in time is still a vibrant message,” he said.
Tudravu confirmed that a comprehensive investigation has commenced, with assistance from the Australian Federal Police. He emphasized the importance of gathering evidence to determine the origin of the message and its connections.
“Investigation is underway, and I’m thankful that the Australian Federal Police is there to assist us. We’ll be taking all steps to get all the evidence and get to the root cause of who is sending this message, and we want to get him and find out the real connections that are out there,” he added.
The focus of the ongoing investigation is strictly on identifying the source of the message and any related networks. Tudravu reassured the public that the issue is being approached with urgency and meticulous care.
This emphasis on thorough investigation highlights the commitment of the Fiji Police Force to maintain public trust and ensure accountability within the force. In these times of uncertainty, the collaborative efforts with international agencies like the Australian Federal Police showcase a determination to uphold law and order, ultimately fostering a safer community.
