The Fiji Police Force is currently investigating an accident that took place around midday on Friday, which involved a collision between a container trailer and a minibus carrying six passengers. The incident occurred near Lokuya Hill, past Verata Junction on Kings Road, as the vehicles were en route to Korovou Town in Tailevu North.

In the aftermath of the accident, both drivers and the six passengers were promptly transported to Korovou Hospital for medical treatment. As the investigation unfolds, the Police Director of Traffic, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, has issued a warning to all public service vehicle (PSV) operators to stay alert while driving.

SSP Divuana highlighted that this marks the second incident involving PSVs within just a week, expressing concern that innocent passengers are increasingly becoming victims of road accidents.

This situation serves as a critical reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for all drivers, especially those operating public transport, to remain focused and cautious while on the road. It is hoped that through increased vigilance and adherence to safety protocols, such unfortunate incidents can be minimized in the future.

Overall, while the accident is alarming, it can serve as an impetus for changes that improve road safety measures and awareness, ensuring the safety of all passengers.
