The Fiji Police Force is conducting an investigation into a midday accident on Friday that involved a collision between a container trailer and a minibus carrying six passengers. The mishap took place near Lokuya Hill, beyond the Verata Junction on Kings Road while heading towards Korovou Town in Tailevu North.
Emergency services confirmed that both drivers, as well as the six passengers, were promptly taken to Korovou Hospital for medical attention following the accident.
As the inquiry progresses, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, who oversees traffic operations, has appealed to all public service vehicle drivers to remain attentive and cautious while on the road. “This is the second incident this week involving public service vehicles, and innocent passengers are suffering as a result of these incidents,” SSP Divuana noted, emphasizing the need for increased vigilance.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety, particularly for those operating public transport. As investigations unfold, it is hoped that the findings will lead to improved safety measures, ultimately protecting passengers and reducing accidents on Fiji’s roads.
