The Fiji Police Force came together today at the Suva Civic Centre for a dedication service in preparation for their 2024 Ratu Sukuna Tournament and the upcoming festive season. Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew emphasized the importance of unity among the police members as they sought divine guidance for these significant events approaching in the coming weeks.
Chew likened this gathering to strategizing before a major raid, stating the need to ensure everyone is aligned and focused on success. He underscored that while the goal is to excel in the Ratu Sukuna campaign, it is equally important to maintain safety and support a positive environment during the festive season.
He expressed gratitude to the families of the police personnel for their sacrifices and wished the teams the best in their endeavors. The Fiji Police Force also recognized the contributions from the Australian Federal Police, who provided logistical support for the #88blues campaign. Notable members from the AFP, including Senior Pacific Liaison Officer Superintendent Adrian Morton and Detective Inspector Paul Everingham, attended the dedication service, where they assisted in blessing the sporting kits for all teams, conducted by Force Chaplain ASP Joeli Mawi.
The excitement builds as the 2024 Ratu Sukuna tournament is set to kick off on Tuesday, starting with boxing matches, followed by the highly anticipated rugby challenge between the Shop & Save Police Blues and the Republic of Fiji Military Forces on Saturday, November 9, at the HFC Stadium in Suva.
This event not only highlights the commitment of the Fiji Police Force to engage in healthy competition but also serves as a reminder of their dedication to community safety and cooperation during the holiday season. The collaboration with the Australian Federal Police further enhances the spirit of partnership and support within regional law enforcement.
