The Fiji Police Force recently bid farewell to Constable Elenoa Gataialupe Penidigitakikinaqitokipapuaniukini, who was recognized as the officer with the longest surname in the force. She was laid to rest in her home village of Tubou in Lakeba, Lau on March 24, 2025.

Constable Elenoa joined the Fiji Police Force on April 27, 2009, starting her career as a Special Constable. After 11 years of dedicated service, she was promoted to Police Constable in the Regular Cadre on November 1, 2019. Throughout her time with the force, she served at several police stations, including the Lakeba Police Station, Nabua Police Station in 2012, the National Police Command and Coordination Centre’s Call Centre in 2019, and the Totogo Police Station in 2020.

The Fiji Police Force has a proud tradition of honoring its members, as demonstrated during recent remembrance ceremonies that honored fallen officers. On September 29, 2024, the force held Remembrance Day ceremonies across Suva, Labasa, and Lautoka, during which families gathered to commemorate the lives of 26 officers who passed away over the past year. The Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew, emphasized the need to recognize the sacrifices made by these officers and their families, a sentiment echoed at Elenoa’s tribute.

The commitment of officers like Constable Elenoa, alongside dedicated support from their families, underscores the importance of service in the Fiji Police Force, which is preparing for its 150th Anniversary celebration on October 10, 2024.

This tribute not only celebrates individual contributions but also highlights the resilience and strength of the Fiji Police Force as it moves forward, learning from the past while honoring the memories of those who served.
