The Fiji Police Force has launched a dedicated 24-hour call centre at its headquarters, aiming to enhance public trust and confidence in policing across the country. This initiative allows residents to report crimes or provide information easily through a toll-free number, 1681, or via email at fpf.callcentre@police.gov.fj.

Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu emphasized that the call centre is designed to offer the public a trustworthy platform for voicing concerns regarding police service delivery, reporting incidents, or sharing tips. He calls upon community members to actively utilize this service for any issues related to the police.

“The information will then be redirected to the respective Directors and Divisional Commanders for immediate action, with feedback provided as soon as practicable,” Commissioner Tudravu stated. This structured approach aims to facilitate a more efficient police response and ensure that concerns are addressed promptly.

The new system also seeks to gather information through an official channel, enabling supervisors to initiate rapid responses. Commissioner Tudravu noted that previous complaints regarding slow response times and lack of feedback have prompted the need for this change, with the expectation that the call centre will effectively mitigate these issues.

He encouraged the public to use this innovative platform, assuring them that all reports made through the official channels would be thoroughly investigated and followed up. This development marks a significant step towards fostering a closer relationship between law enforcement and the community, paving the way for improved communication and public safety.
