The Fiji Police conducted a comprehensive two-day surge operation across Viti Levu, focusing on areas from Navua to Nalawa in Ra. This initiative involved various units within the Fiji Police Force, including the Traffic Unit, K-9 Unit, Fiji Detector Dog Unit, Water Police, Community Policing, and the Tourist Police, along with contributions from Crime Stoppers and the Fiji Police Band.

During the operation, the Traffic and K-9 units carried out random vehicle inspections, while the Crime Stoppers team engaged with high schools as part of their educational programs. The Tourist Police visited local hotels to enhance safety and security, and the Water Police collaborated with Community Policing to raise awareness within communities about law enforcement and safety concerns.

Senior Superintendent of Police Kasiano Vusonilawe remarked that the operations were unexpected for many, revealing instances of expired vehicle licenses and overloaded passengers, as well as drug detections facilitated by K-9 units. He emphasized that these operations serve not only as enforcement actions but also as an opportunity for dialogue with stakeholders regarding daily challenges.

In his statement, Vusonilawe stressed the importance of continued awareness efforts to encourage compliance with the law and ensure public safety, especially as the festive season approaches.

This proactive approach from the Fiji Police demonstrates their commitment to maintaining community safety and fostering a collaborative relationship with the public. As the year-end festivities draw near, initiatives like this not only enhance security but also bolster community trust in law enforcement.

Overall, these operations signify a dedicated effort by the Fiji Police to create a safer environment for residents and visitors alike, fostering a sense of community engagement and responsibility.
