The Fiji Police Operation Headquarters recently conducted a substantial two-day surge operation across Viti Levu, covering areas from Navua to Nalawa in Ra. This extensive initiative involved multiple units from the Operations Unit, including Traffic, K-9, the Fiji Detector Dog Unit, Water Police, Community Policing, Tourist Police, Crime Stoppers, and even the Fiji Police Band.

During the operation, the Traffic and K-9 units carried out random vehicle inspections, while Crime Stoppers engaged with students at local high schools as part of their educational initiative. Additionally, the Tourist Police visited hotels located along major thoroughfares, and the Water Police collaborated with Community Policing to foster awareness in various communities.

The Fiji Police Force marching Band, alongside a dance band, entertained audiences at select locations. Senior Superintendent of Police Kasiano Vusonilawe emphasized that this initiative took many by surprise, revealing that several vehicles were found to have expired wheel tax, issues with passenger overload, and some were detected with drugs via K-9 inspections.

This operation serves as a critical opportunity for the police to engage with various stakeholders and address everyday challenges they encounter. SSP Vusonilawe reassured the public that this awareness effort is an ongoing commitment to remind citizens of the importance of obeying laws, particularly as the festive season approaches.

This proactive approach not only suggests a strong community relationship between the police and citizens but also enhances safety across Viti Levu. The continued focus on public awareness indicates a hopeful path toward safer celebrations in the future.

In summary, the Fiji Police’s recent operations signify a dedicated effort towards public safety and community engagement, paving the way for positive interactions among police and citizens.
