The Commissioner of Police, Rusiate Tudravu, has announced an internal investigation into allegations that senior officers may be involved in facilitating illegal activities. He emphasized that if these claims are found to be unfounded, the individual responsible for making such allegations will face consequences.
Tudravu asserted that the Fiji Police Force will not permit social media to undermine the diligent efforts of officers striving to disrupt the illicit drug trade. He highlighted a concerning trend where, following police operations aimed at pressuring drug traffickers, numerous accusations arise against police personnel, particularly those leading these operations.
The police have urged Alexandra Forwood, the individual who made the allegations, to file an official report and engage fully with the investigation process. The Commissioner noted that while it is important for people to come forward with concerns, such reports must be made in good faith, as false accusations can harm the careers and personal lives of officers and their families.
The Fiji Police Force maintains a strict zero-tolerance approach towards any officers involved with criminal activities that support drug trafficking. They are committed to investigating any credible complaints and taking necessary disciplinary action. The organization remains focused on safeguarding communities from the dangers posed by the illicit drug trade and will not be distracted by attempts to divert attention from their critical mission.
