Police officials have sounded an alarm as incidents of illegal activities, arrests, fatalities, and accidents have surged across the country this month. Acting Commissioner of Police Aporosa Lutunauga emphasized that anyone who chooses to flout the law should be prepared to face its consequences.

Lutunauga stated that the police are dedicated to upholding law and order through a special operation that will run from December 15 to January 15. “Our goal is to ensure that all officers are actively engaged so that every Fijian can enjoy the festive season safely and responsibly,” he remarked.

The focus of this operation is to enhance public safety within communities, commercial areas, and along major highways during the holiday season. To bolster confidence among citizens, police visibility has been amplified, with officers deployed to deter crime and to respond swiftly to emergencies.

The operation entails ongoing road patrols and targeted surveillance aimed at preventing crime, including burglary and drug-related offenses. ACP Lutunauga urged Fijians to exercise caution in their behavior and decision-making during these turbulent times.

The proactive measures by law enforcement reflect a commitment to protect the community while ensuring that the festive atmosphere remains joyous and secure for all.
