The Fiji Police Force is advising vehicle owners to refrain from leaving their cars unattended with the keys still in the ignition. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Livai Driu emphasized this warning after two incidents occurred where thieves stole cars that had their keys left inside.

ACP Driu cautioned that opportunistic criminals often exploit such situations and urged car owners to take precautions to secure their vehicles at all times. He noted that these criminals show no regard for others, including families who may be present in the vehicle.

He added that upon receiving a theft report, police will set up checkpoints to ensure that the stolen vehicle is not used for further criminal activities.
