Fiji Police Issue Speeding Warning After Tragic Accident

The Fiji Police Traffic Department is urging drivers to heed warnings about the dangers of speeding after a 21-year-old man died in Tavua yesterday afternoon.

Director of Traffic, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, stated that initial investigations suggest speeding was the cause of the fatal accident.

The incident took place as the victim was driving along the Kings Road near Draunivi, Tavua.

According to reports, the man lost control of his vehicle while attempting to overtake another car, leading to the accident.

SSP Divuana mentioned that the victim was taken to Tavua Hospital, where he was admitted but unfortunately passed away this morning.

Four passengers traveling with the victim have received medical treatment.

The road death toll currently stands at 31, compared to 57 during the same period last year.
