The Fiji Police Force is currently investigating an accident that took place on Friday around midday, which involved a collision between a container trailer and a minibus that was carrying six passengers. This incident happened near Lokuya Hill, past the Verata Junction, along Kings Road, as the vehicles were heading toward Korovou Town in Tailevu North.

Following the accident, authorities confirmed that both drivers, along with the six passengers, were transported to Korovou Hospital for medical attention. As the investigation unfolds, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, the director of Traffic, is emphasizing the importance of vigilance among public service vehicle (PSV) drivers.

“This marks the second incident this week involving PSVs, and unfortunately, innocent passengers are becoming victims on our roads,” warned SSP Divuana.

This incident highlights the ongoing concern for road safety in the region and the need for increased awareness and caution among drivers, particularly those operating public service vehicles.

Positive progress can be made through continued public education and reinforcement of safe driving practices, which could help reduce the number of such unfortunate accidents in the future. As the community responds to these incidents, perhaps it will spark a broader conversation about road safety and the measures necessary to ensure the safety of all road users.
