The Fiji Police Force is currently conducting an investigation into an accident that occurred around midday on Friday. The incident involved a collision between a container trailer and a minibus that was transporting six passengers. The crash took place near Lokuya Hill, beyond the Verata Junction, along Kings Road, while en route to Korovou Town in Tailevu North.
Authorities have reported that both drivers and all six passengers were promptly taken to Korovou Hospital to receive medical attention. As the investigation unfolds, Senior Superintendent of Police Mitieli Divuana, the director of Traffic, is emphasizing the importance of vigilance among public service vehicle (PSV) drivers.
“This marks the second incident this week involving PSVs, and innocent passengers are becoming victims on our roads,” SSP Divuana stated, highlighting the need for increased awareness and caution.
Ensuring the safety of passengers is paramount, and this incident serves as a crucial reminder for all drivers to prioritize safety on the roads. While it’s disheartening to see such accidents occur, the continued focus on road safety by law enforcement can lead to better awareness and preventive measures that protect passengers in the future.
This situation reflects a larger need for community engagement in safe driving practices, which can ultimately contribute to fewer accidents and greater safety on Fiji’s roads.
