The Fiji Police Force is currently looking into a serious accident that took place on Friday around noon, involving a collision between a container trailer and a minibus with six passengers. The incident occurred near Lokuya Hill, following the Verata Junction, along Kings Road, while the vehicles were heading towards Korovou Town in Tailevu North.
Following the crash, authorities confirmed that both drivers and the six passengers were transported to Korovou Hospital for medical attention. As the investigation unfolds, Senior Superintendent of Police Mitieli Divuana, who oversees traffic operations, has issued a warning to all public service vehicle (PSV) drivers to heighten their alertness on the roads.
“This marks the second incident this week involving PSVs, leading to innocent passengers suffering as a result of these accidents,” expressed SSP Divuana.
This situation underscores the critical need for increased safety measures and awareness among drivers, particularly those operating public service vehicles. By reinforcing vigilant driving practices and adhering to traffic regulations, such incidents can be reduced, ensuring a safer environment for all road users.
In a positive light, this incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts by authorities to improve road safety in Fiji, which may lead to enhanced training and awareness programs for drivers in the future, ultimately benefiting the community.
