The Fiji Police Force is currently probing an accident that took place on Friday, involving a collision between a container trailer and a minibus with six passengers on board. The incident occurred around midday near Lokuya Hill, past the Verata Junction, along Kings Road, on the way to Korovou Town in Tailevu North.
Both drivers and all six passengers have been transported to Korovou Hospital for medical attention. As investigations unfold, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, who oversees the Traffic Division, has called on all public service vehicle (PSV) drivers to exercise increased caution while on the road.
“This marks the second incident this week involving PSVs, leading to innocent passengers becoming victims due to road accidents,” stated SSP Divuana.
In light of this troubling trend, there is a growing emphasis on road safety and the importance of vigilant driving. The police’s proactive stance may help prevent future accidents and ensure safer travel for passengers throughout Fiji.
While such incidents are unfortunate, they serve as a vital reminder of the importance of road safety and responsibility. With the collective effort from authorities and the public, there is hope for a reduction in traffic accidents and a safer environment for all road users.
