The Fiji Police Force is currently investigating an accident that took place on Friday, involving a collision between a container trailer and a minibus carrying six passengers. This unfortunate incident occurred around midday near Lokuya Hill, beyond the Verata Junction, along Kings Road, on the route to Korovou Town in Tailevu North.
Authorities reported that both drivers and all six passengers were transported to Korovou Hospital for medical attention. As the investigation is ongoing, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, who oversees traffic, has issued a reminder to all public service vehicle (PSV) drivers to exercise caution while on the roads.
“This marks the second incident this week involving PSVs, and we are seeing innocent passengers becoming victims on our roads,” SSP Divuana emphasized, urging vigilance to prevent further accidents.
As the investigation unfolds, it serves as a critical reminder for all drivers to prioritize safety. Measures to enhance road safety can lead to more cautious driving behaviors, ultimately protecting passengers and pedestrians alike.
The community can stay hopeful as authorities work diligently to address these concerns and ensure safer travel for all on Fiji’s roads.
