Fiji Police Intensify Drug Crackdown Ahead of Holiday Surge

The Fiji Police Force is intensifying its drug operations in preparation for a surge in public activity during the school holidays, festivals, meetings, and conferences.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu issued a warning to those involved in the illegal drug trade, stating that they will face consequences. He noted that police have been conducting raids on farms and have recently made significant discoveries in Kadavu, leading to arrests for the unlawful possession of controlled substances.

ACP Driu urged the public to assist in combating the drug issue by reporting information via the hotline 917 or Crime Stoppers at 919.

Additionally, the K9 units are being enhanced through collaboration with the New Zealand Police as part of the Fiji Police Partnership Programme, which adds to the capabilities of Fiji Police’s Dog Patrol in conjunction with the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service.
