The Fiji Police Force organized a medal parade today to recognize and honor the dedication of its officers, including those who have retired. A total of 206 officers received the Fiji Police Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (FPLSM), while 89 were honored with the Fiji Police Medal (FPM). The awards celebrated the commitment from officers within the Southern, Eastern, Central, and Headquarters Divisions.
During the ceremony, Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew commended the recipients for their exemplary service, urging them to continue their excellent work. He acknowledged the significance of this milestone for those who were awarded, noting that many comrades were unable to reach such a point in their careers. Chew expressed gratitude for the support he received during his tenure as Acting Commissioner.
Reflecting on the journey, he emphasized the collaboration that enabled them to overcome challenges together. With a transition in leadership approaching, he encouraged the officers to extend the same support to the incoming Commissioner of Police who will take office in three weeks.
The Medal Presentation for the Western Division is scheduled for this Wednesday at the Girmit Centre, promising to further highlight the outstanding contributions of the police force.
This event not only serves as a tribute to the hard work and commitment of officers, but also as a reminder of the importance of community and teamwork within the police force. It is paramount that the dedication and sacrifices of these individuals are recognized and appreciated, fostering a culture of respect and accountability in law enforcement.
